Quite a while…

What a long time ago that last post was written!
There had been some intention to start again a few times but for different reasons it didn’t happen for real.

Some things have happened since then in my life at the edge of the field, one of which was the remake of one of our rooms where I now have a nice little workspace that is actually useable.

I get into a routine of sitting down here regularly for the purpose of -amongst others- creating new content for the blog and getting back into reading my favourite blogs. I really regret not having all written little stories during those last months and my “Garden year” pictures to browse through in here.
Well... from now on we will see my knitting and crochet again here, new yarn, my stash, my garden and surroundings, my running adventure, the dogs of course (there is a new addition to the pack), but also new topics like when I spent some time away from home and other trips, as well as new crafts.
I do hope I will see some of my old readers here again but also want to welcome new ones eventually.
Ready for the journey? I definitely am!

Back

I think I'll give my blog a revival after nearly a year of "silence".
As today with the winter solstice is the natural start of the new year this seems to be the right day.
This past year has been really special to me, as I got a very unique chance.
More about that to come.

New pics of the gang

It is so nice to take them for a walk when the sun shines, but you can't imagine how they look when the ground is wet and sticky. A damp microfiber towel is my best friend right now! The girls are somewhat careful where they walk but sometimes all the lane is just one muddy puddle and there is no help getting at least dirty feet and som splashes of brown in the white coats ;-). Peio on the other hand doesn't care where he walks, an jumping into puddles is the biggest fun, or just walking through, or stepping in the deep mud while there is grass at the side...
But these pics are from a sunny day when the ground had dried off a bit:

I can't understand people thinking they all look the same...

KAL progress

I am behind the schedule with my mittens as all clues for the second mitten are out. But I don't worry of not being done in time as this weekend I won't be as busy as last one.
After I had taken the picture with the mittens on Bisou Myrtille had to check them out, too...
Thanks for coming over.

Sweater dog beds

It must have been years ago that I saw a picture on the www that cought my attention. It was of a dogbed made from an old sweater. I think it was this one and I loved it and immediately had an old sweater in mind that I would use.
Took me until this winter to finally get around to tackle the project. Had two sweaters to use up, had a cushion, got another one and some stuffing for the sleeves.
It is easy but I found it a bit hard for my hands to deal with the fabric.
You sew straight from armpit to armpit, stuff the sleeves from the neck opening and from their bottom openings, close the neck opening, stuff some more and straighten the stuffing. Sew the sleeve openings together so that you get a round tube. Insert a fitting cushion into the body of the sweater and sew the bottom close while attaching the sleeve tube all around. Tada:

They ALL love them! If one leaves one of these, you can be sure someone else (who you thought was deeply asleep somewhere else) will occupy it immediately.

Hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do. Perhaps you want to make some comfy dog bed yourself. I would be pleased to answer any detail questions on how I made them.

Thanks for coming over.

Peio's first birthday

Today is my small boy's first birthday. The date was estimated by the rescue organisation where he and his siblings had been brought to in march last year after they were found in a box on a meadow.

It is amazing how special he is, how much I learn from him to make him deal with his fears, and how he has developped, both physically and mentally.

Myrtille and Peio

Thank you for your lovely comments on our newest addition to the pack!
Here he is playing with his "nanny" Myrtille in the back yard. He makes a lot of progress in overcoming his fears. In the first days he would have run back into the house when he had heard any sound outside or seen a neighbour. Now he listens or watches for a bit then continues playing. It is good for him to have those fearless "sisters" around :-)

Peio

This little guy has been staying with us for about ten days now. He started off as a foster dog but we had aready considered keeping him if he would "fit" in the pack even before we sent the email to ask if he was still available.
I built a hard shell around my heart to save me from too much heartache if he would be adopted. But it was soon clear that he is a keeper and we both fell in love with him.
He is about four months now and he didn't have a great start into the world, was very shy in the beginning and afraid of people, sounds and "things" outside. But he gets more trusting and confident day by day.

More about him will follow soon!
