Quite a while…

What a long time ago that last post was written!
There had been some intention to start again a few times but for different reasons it didn’t happen for real.

Some things have happened since then in my life at the edge of the field, one of which was the remake of one of our rooms where I now have a nice little workspace that is actually useable.

I get into a routine of sitting down here regularly for the purpose of -amongst others- creating new content for the blog and getting back into reading my favourite blogs. I really regret not having all written little stories during those last months and my “Garden year” pictures to browse through in here.

Well... from now on we will see my knitting and crochet again here, new yarn, my stash, my garden and surroundings, my running adventure, the dogs of course (there is a new addition to the pack), but also new topics like when I spent some time away from home and other trips, as well as new crafts.

I do hope I will see some of my old readers here again but also want to welcome new ones eventually. 

Ready for the journey? I definitely am!

Sunday walk

Here are a few pictures that I just took on our walk that took us close to the ponds. It had rained before as it often does right now at temps between 5 and 10 °C. Wind makes it feel colder a bit. We were lucky enough that the sun came out but on the last meters before getting home it started raining again.

 The boy staying close to me while the girls running ahead to explore the world when let off leash and hearing the bloved "go".

 It is amazing how green the field looks already with the winter wheat sown late in fall.

 The lanes are very muddy and the soil is soaked.

 Now all I see looking around me is this:

Another dog walk

Remember the post about the green sunday walk I wrote back in August? Well here are some actual pictures of that part of my neck of the woods.

 The beginning change to fall is definitely visible!

 The clouds were looking special.

 This is still the same field of leek than in the old post ;-)

And as usual with me: girls in front looking out for grashoppers and mice, boy one step behind.

Rapeseed

The rapeseed seems to be nearly ripe. I love how the little black shiny seeds are lying in their "bean". The plants get yellower and dryer day by day. I am sure the big machine to cut them is not very far away.

Potatoes

It got colder now (more appropriate for April) and we finally had a bit of rain (and lots of wind) but not enough.
This what I see from our front window these days. In the field across the street will be grown potatoes this year (we already had wheat and beets there). A final plowing, digging the rows, fertilizing, putting in the potatoes and heaping up the soil in one single go:

Spring German-French farmers' market

After the warm and sunny end of April, May has started cold, windy and wet. Well, I do see that the water is good for the plants - as long as it is not too cold.

Last Sunday morning I was at a farmers' market in Neustadt, a town with a nice old city center half an hour's drive from here - a very special market as there are farmers from Palatine as well as from Alsace and Lorraine. Have been there a few times, also in fall, during the last years and knew and got what I wanted - herb and tomato plants (vintage varieties), and goat cheese of course. And a lavender soap. And I always take the chance to talk a bit of French. And this time I didn't even forget to take my camera!

When I got home I had a quick lunch and then took the dogs for a walk as the sky was so dark that I knew when it would start raining we would be soaked in minutes. Not funny with the temperatures and the wind we had... But we were lucky enough to get home dry and only then it started pouring :-)
